Tweetwall – Group Tweets by Hashtags, Usernames, and Keywords

leave a comment

tweetwall

Tweetwall is an interesting new service that lets you create a stream of tweets based on hashtags, usernames, and keywords. It’s cool because right now you can only create a real-time list of tweets on Twitter by perform a search on one keyword. Here you can add several keywords, several usernames, and multiple hashtags and Tweetwall will combine all those into one single stream, or “tweetwall”. You can then share it with anyone.

control pc from twitter

There are a lot of programs out there that you can use to remotely control your PC, but how about via Twitter? Using a program called TweetMyPC, you can not only shutdown and restart your PC by sending a Twitter tweet, you can also download files to your computer, lock your computer, get your IP address, and even get a screenshot of your desktop! Pretty neat!

How to create a list in Twitter

Twitter Lists is a new feature just rolled out that allows you to create groups of people and view just the tweets from the people on that list. You can create a new list on Twitter by logging into your account and clicking on New List in the right sidebar.

Give your list a name, choose whether you want it to be public (other people can follow the list) or private, and click Create List.

Now simply go to the profile pages of the people you want to add to the list and you’ll see a new button called Lists. Just check the box next to the list you want to add them too.

Now to view tweets from people on the list only, go to your profile page and click on the list name in the right sidebar. Done!

search twitter with bing

There are a ton of sites out there that help you search Twitter for popular links or find the most popular topics currently on twitter. Microsoft has joined the search Twitter game with Bing Twitter. Using Bing Twitter, you can quickly see the hottest topics on Twitter and also the links being shared for each hot topic.

When you click on a topic, you get a real-time view of all tweets with that tag plus any user tweets about each link. Cool!

twitter events maps

If you use Twitter to tell your followers about an event that is going on, you might want to consider using schmaps. schmaps basically adds a link to your tweet that loads up a page with a map of the event location, a way for followers to comment, a way for followers to RSVP and the ability to customize the background using your Twitter background. Pretty neat.
