If you’re like a lot of people out there, you probably use a lot of Google services. There’s Gmail and Google Voice and Google Calendar and Google Reader and now even Google Wave. Googsystray is a free system tray app that keeps track of all the services and notifies you with alerts and messages! Nice!

How to block an email sender in Gmail

Keep getting junk emails from one person over and over again? Wish you could block their email address in Gmail so it won’t show in your Inbox? Easy! Open the email and click on the More Actions button and choose Filter Messages like these.

Now click Next Step and check the box that says Delete it. Click the Create Filter button and you’re done!

Now when an email comes from that address, it will automatically be deleted. Enjoy!

Monitor your Gmail account from your desktop using Spiffy

Don’t like to keep Gmail open in your web browser all the time to see when a new email arrives. There are lots of Gmail notifiers out there and another one is Spiffy.

Spiffy has a clean interface and lots of configuration options. Whenever a new email arrives, you get a small popup window near your taskbar that you can click on to view the message. Simple and elegant.

How to recall a sent message in Gmail

Ever click the Send button on an email you really should not have sent in the first place? Or maybe you didn’t finish the email, but clicked Send by accident. In either case, you can enable the Undo Send feature in Gmail Labs that basically waits a few seconds before actually sending the email in case you want to undo it. Nice!

However, there are other ways you can secure your Gmail account such as remembering to sign out when using a public computer or using HTTPS all the time.
